  4. Facilitated through Mary Hunter

  5. Kinks sorted out, should be thorough transition

  • Door open to continuing this project into next year

  1. Travel Funding

  • Dispersed was through Faculty of Arts, now split between Departments

  • Department has allotment, but how to disperse?

  1. Small to more, or larger to smaller student population

  2. Conference travel already dispersed, resolved

  3. Often part of funding package, that you apply for at other schools, some departments non-competitive

  4. Difference between several hundred and several thousand

  5. Could we change amount based on need?

  6. Per year that these are allocated

  7. Can get it multiple years?

  8. Plan for entire stay--can choose lump sum or big payout

  9. Already a lot of competitive travel awards

  10. General agreement that less competition

  11. Funding discrepancy--difficult for internationals, how would large grants be distributed

  12. Media@McGill offering lower amounts

  13. Knowing funding upfront allows student to be selective--ie: $2,000 for student and can apply how many times you’d like until you reach that amount

  14. General preference is that students get funding allocated for travel that is guaranteed over the course of their studies and that they can apply for

  15. Darin equalized funding by reaching out to supervisors

  16. New Business

  • Its getting warmer!

  • We are going to miss each other for various personal reasons

  • All sang “We’re all in this together” ;)
