Assistant Professor in Communication, Civic Engagement, & Race/Ethnicity
The Department of Communication in the College of Media, Communication
and Information at the University of Colorado-Boulder invites applicants
for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Communication, Civic
Engagement, and Race/Ethnicity, with the ability to make connections in
the College across units and to contribute to the required curriculum in
one or more of the three departmental areas: Discourse and Society,
Organizational Communication, and/or Rhetoric. Eligible candidates should
have expertise in one or more of the following areas, working from an
intersectional perspective: critical race studies, ethnic studies, Native
American and indigenous studies, and/or transnational politics. The
candidate will be expected to help build outreach on and off campus as
part of BoulderTalks, a new center to foster community and knowledge
through democratic engagement. An ideal candidate will have experience
working in, facilitating, consulting, advocating, and/or publicizing
communities mobilizing around racial/ethnic justice. A PhD is required at
the time of appointment, as is a record of excellence in service,
teaching, and research.
The position involves 40% research, 40% teaching (i.e. 2 courses per
semester) and 20% service, and it will start August 2016. Salary will be
commensurate with the level of experience. To apply candidates should
