Media Theory, Culture and Technology

The Media School in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana

University Bloomington invites applications for a professor (open rank)

with an established record of teaching and publication at the

intersection of media theory, culture, and technology. Areas of

specialization might include emergent media, sound studies, digital

cinema, software studies, media history and history of technology.

Digital humanities approaches are welcome.

The successful candidate can expect to be working in an innovative, newly

created Media School that brings cinema and media studies together with

journalism, communication science and media production, offering

curricular tracks in these areas as well as game design, media

management, and media technologies and cultures. Applicants are expected

to hold the Ph.D. in Media Studies, Film Studies, Communication or a

related field.

Uses and Impacts of Media

The Media School in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana

University Bloomington invites applications from scholars (open rank) who

examine uses and impacts of media. Areas of research focus may include

traditional or emerging media, but ideally both. Social scientists are

strongly encouraged to apply, although other methodological orientations

would not disqualify interested applicants. Applicants are expected to

hold a Ph.D. in Media Studies, Communication or a related field. The

successful candidate will affiliate with one or more of the school?s

units: Communication Science, Journalism, or Cinema and Media Studies.

The Media School is a new academic enterprise at IU that brings all forms

of media study under one umbrella. In 2016, we will move to a newly

renovated home, including state-of-the-art facilities for our Institute

of Communication Research.

Digital and Emerging Media

The Media School in the College of Arts and Sciences at Indiana

University Bloomington invites applications for an assistant professor

whose scholarship focuses on digital or emerging media. Candidates who

examine new media, social media, media and technology, emerging media,

convergence or other related topics are encouraged to apply. The school

encourages a variety of methodological and disciplinary focuses, and

candidates may find a home within units such as Communication Science,

Journalism, or Cinema and Media Studies. Applicants are expected to hold
