The College of Communication at DePaul is seeking a tenure-track Assistant
Professor in the area of Communication Studies with an emphasis in
communication and technology. Candidates should focus on social media and
social networks, computer-mediated communication, digital communication,
human-computer interaction, and/or other new and developing modes of
communication.
Research and teaching interests should complement one or more of our
existing emphases in Communication Studies?Communication and Media,
Relational Communication, Intercultural Communication, Organizational
Communication, and Health Communication.
The ideal candidate will conduct research and teach communication studies
courses explicitly related to the use of technology in a variety of
communicative contexts, including, but not limited to, identity and
representation, interpersonal relationships, health, organizational life,
social change and social justice, and the construction of culture.
*Responsibilities:*
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in area of specialization as well
as courses contributing to the common core in Communication Studies.
Nominal teaching load is 2 courses per academic quarter (Autumn, Winter,
Spring). Engage in a program of scholarship resulting in peer-reviewed
publication or creative activity. Participate in service to program,
college, university and community.
*Minimum Qualifications:*
PhD in Communication Studies at time of application or official
notification of completion of the doctoral degree by July 1, 2016;
demonstrated excellence in teaching at the college level; an active record
of scholarship or creative activity related to the candidate?s area of
specialty.
